Melissa Segal
Founder and Chief Innovator
Melissa Segal has over 18 years experience in consumer products
and brand marketing. Melissa spent eight years at Disney Consumer
Products in senior marketing and category roles and was responsible
for such initiatives such as the repositioning of Winnie the Pooh
and the successful merchandise launches behind popular films such
as 101 Dalmatians and Toy Story. During her tenure at Disney,
Melissa was also Vice President of the $2 billion dollar toy business,
setting the strategies for the category, negotiating major deals
with toy companies, managing product development and marketing,
and supervising Disney's relationship with leading manufacturers
such as Mattel and Hasbro.
In 2000, Melissa joined an early stage company called Mommy & Me as Senior Vice President of Consumer Products where she developed an award winning program that included DVD's, books and infant toys. Melissa helped to build the company which was acquired by DIC entertainment in 2003.
In 2003, Melissa formed Evergreen Concepts, a boutique licensing
agency in conjunction with Jeffrey Fradin, a former Disney colleague
where she represented A level brands such as Build-A-Bear Workshop,
Alvin & the Chipmunks, Little Golden Books, and Pat the Bunny.
In two years, Evergreen Concepts had executed over 100 deals for
its clients and developed and placed product in all key categories
and at all major retailers before selling the company in September,
2005. Melissa earned her BA at UCLA and MBA from Columbia Business
School.
